From beginning of story to the end of the story ... its so hard to sit still!

Guilty as Charged

So today we had some friends over for the morning and I kept getting this picture of how like me, Lily is when she's involved in playing with a friend. It was quite frightening actually. I think most of the time, we as parents are struggling with feeling like we're failing at shaping our kids into who we want them to be, maybe a combination of who they are naturally and who we want them to be, but based on another conversation I had today, I think I'm getting a glimpse that it's easier for others to see that, or in my case today, to see when she's in her element. I don't know if that quite makes sense, maybe that was just one long sentence, but this was just such a vivid eye opening vision that I felt like I had to record it. In summary what I saw Lily responding to a situation in a way that I feel like I have taught her to respond in, that should be a good thing right, well it was different than the way her friend was responding and so it scared me. Have I taught her the right way, what if it's wrong and I've now programmed this into her, when will she figure out a better way to react to a situation? Will she blame me for limiting her in how she interacts? Scary!!

Lily went to the Dentist! I got to take Lily to kids day at the dentist on Saturday. She did such a great job, as did the hygenist. They walked her through each step of the check up and Lily made it through great. We were happy to find out that she had no cavities and her teeth looked great! Because it was kids day she also got whiskers face painted on a clown made her a flower balloon. I'm so glad we were able to go on such a kid friendly day.

Well I think it's official now, for all of you who've been waiting to hear .... Lily is getting out of her bed!!!! The past two mornings she's come up to my bed before Beau's woken up and yesterday she got up from her nap early and came out without waking him up. It only took about 3 days of Beau being in a big boy bed to teach his sister how to get out of her own bed! For those who never thought it would happen, it has!
